Windows actually detects for errors that occur during startup by default and automatically performs boot into safe mode in case it finds any errors.
It is always a good option to have a bootable USB with you. It is useful especially when your computer crashes and is unable to self boot then USB drive can act as a recovery system.
It means having portable OS without having to deal with hassles during complete Windows installation. You can just use the settings you want and tools on your computer. Some users make use of bootable USBs as if offers high security against viruses.
What are the requirements
You need the following to continue
- Access to Windows DiskPart/3rd party tool
- USB 3.0 having minimum 8GB storage
- An ISO file of OS you wish to install/ repair
You can visit the Microsoft website to download the Windows operating system directly. For this you need to have a product key so that you can enable all the available features and possess OS the legal way.
Create Bootable Drive
With the help of DiskPart plus command prompt it becomes easy to create bootable USB with almost any OS installed
Start by inserting the bootable USB flash drive into the computer or laptop. Open command prompt as an administrator and then click – Start, type- cmd and now right-click Command Prompt and next you can choose – – Run as Administrator.
Type – DISKPART and from the keyboard hit- Enter. It will start the Windows DiskPart.
On the very next command line, type – LIST DISK to check the storage devices available. Find out the storage device that refers to the USB you have inserted.
In case you are not aware about it just click – Start and type – Disk Management. Now click – Create and Format Hard Disk Partitions. In the section -Disk Management, check for -disk # which has Removable shown in the list below. You can also check by checking the drive size.
Type command – SEL DISK 1. Here “1” is adjacent location of USB drive. In case the USB drive is positioned on Disk 2, then you need to type – SEL DISK 2.
On the next command line, type – CLEAN and hit – Enter. This command removes the USB content so ensure that you have backed up the data in advance.
Now it’s the time to partition your drive. Here you need to enter a set of commands. You need to press enter after you type in each command.
This is what you need to type next – CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY
Type – LIST PAR to choose main partition.
To activate partition, type – ACTIVE
The USB can be formatted by typing – FORMAT FS=FAT32 LABEL=“ABC” QUICK OVERRIDE
Once done just exit DiskPart as well as Command Prompt. Drag & drop Windows ISO file to the bootable drive.
